About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead US budgeting, forecasting, financial modeling, and strategic financial planning
- Support commercial decision-making and identify opportunities for top-line growth and profitability
- Challenge business performance tracking against budget targets and ensure adherence to financial targets
- Manage cost-center reporting across teams
- Partner with cross-functional teams to analyze financial data and business metrics
- Track trends, identify concerns, and generate actionable insights to improve cost efficiency and performance
- Advise leadership and cross-functional stakeholders and align goals with company objectives
- Enhance financial reporting through clear, compelling storytelling
- Own state-level regulatory compliance across key US jurisdictions, including NMLS MSB Call Reports, Tangible Net Worth monitoring, permissible investment tracking, and surety bond management
- Own audited US financial statements, financial reporting, and the internal controls environment with SOX-level rigor
- Liaise with state regulators and external auditors
- Lead multi-state licensing examinations and regulatory financial audits
- Establish and scale the US finance function
- Implement process improvements to streamline reporting, improve forecasting accuracy, and support sound decision-making
Requirements
What you’ll need- Active US Certified Public Accountant (CPA) credential, or fully qualified accountant certification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA)
- 10+ years of progressive finance experience
- At least 3–5+ years in regulated financial services, such as money transmission, payments, fintech, or banking
- Strong experience as a Finance Business Partner or managing cost-center budgets
- Hands-on experience with state-level regulatory requirements, including NMLS filings, MSB call reports, Tangible Net Worth monitoring, permissible investments, and surety bonds
- Direct experience owning audited US financial statements, managing external audit relationships, and maintaining internal controls with SOX-level rigor
- Ability to be approved quickly as an NMLS control person / executive officer
- Established US background suitable for standard FBI fingerprinting, credit, and background checks
- Strong ability to analyze complex financial data, track business trends, and craft detailed reports and compelling narratives
- Demonstrated ability to influence key stakeholders and drive alignment with company goals
- Proven capability to perform effectively in high-pressure, fast-paced environments while maintaining accuracy, quality, and tight deadlines
- Genuine curiosity about AI and its application to work
- Practical experience using AI tools professionally
- Strong AI literacy, including effective prompting and critical evaluation of AI-generated output
- Awareness of ethical considerations and responsible AI use, particularly with sensitive data, customer experience, and compliance
