About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Promote and sell Caterpillar Paving parts and company service capabilities
Inspect customer equipment; develop proposals and estimates; prepare and deliver quotations
Develop and sell annual maintenance contracts
Provide application, repair, and operational assistance on Pavers, Cold Planers, Reclaimers, and Asphalt Compactors
Serve as the technical training instructor for the Paving Product line
Lead NPI (New Product Introduction) and FF (Field Follow) projects with CAT and cascade information throughout the organization
Develop web-based content for sales, technical, parts, and other learning needs
Assist with Paving tickets through the LANDesk ticket distribution list
Create technical hot topics and Ziegler service letters for field issues
Perform new machine start-ups, equipment demonstrations, and formal customer training
Develop Parts programs to encourage winter season rebuilds
Work with the Service Writer and Service Manager to open and close work orders, review accuracy, and manage parts and labor charges
Maintain current customer equipment inventory using a customer relationship management tool
Stay current with relevant new products and developments
Maintain customer relations, resolve problems and disputes, and enhance customer relations
Collaborate with Sales, Service, Parts, and Caterpillar personnel to ensure customer satisfaction

Requirements

What you’ll need

High school diploma/GED required
2 or 4 year degree is preferred, but not required depending upon the level of experience
2+ years of outside sales experience in the asphalt paving and milling field preferred
Strong mechanical aptitude & strong familiarity of the asphalt paving and milling industry and equipment
Excellent technical, communication and customer service skills
Must have and maintain a clean driving record
Up to 30% travel
Ability to push/pull up to 10 lbs
Ability to lift/carry up to 30 lbs
Ability to lift bulky objects
Ability to stand, walk, use hands, talk, hear, rotate neck and trunk, climb stairs and ladders, repetitively bend, kneel, sustain a squat, and reach forward and overhead
Ability to work indoors and/or outdoors, sometimes in loud noise levels
