About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Develop and support Zoox's autonomous platform as a Systems Test Engineer on the System Behavior Analysis Autonomous team
- Analyze and diagnose system faults and errors involving hardware, software, and sensor data from on-road testing and system simulation runs
- Categorize and prioritize issues based on severity, priority, and potential impact on safety and performance
- Collaborate with engineering, software, testing, and offshore teams
- Identify trends in system failures and propose preventative measures to improve system safety and robustness
- Produce reports covering system issues, troubleshooting steps, and root cause analysis
- Define and report operational characteristics of SBA execution, including cost and capacity forecasting
- Develop tools and workflows to improve triage operations and quality and quantity outcomes
- Adapt to changing priorities, manage multiple tasks, and implement effective solutions
- Provide reports and insights to leadership on overall quality and engineering decisions
- Triage and root-cause issues identified during testing and real-world operations
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or STEM-related field
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in systems troubleshooting and diagnostics, preferably in the automotive or embedded systems industry
- Experience with Git, Agile methodologies, and scripting/programming languages, preferably Python
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a methodical approach to root cause analysis
- Passion for autonomous vehicle technology and safety is essential
- Experience in a Quality Assurance or Triage role for Autonomous Driving (bonus qualification)
- Project Management experience on programs involving cross-functional partners and offshore teams (bonus qualification)
- Experience with Change Management, Analytics, or Simulation tools (bonus qualification)
