About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Assist Zurich Canada legal counsel in protecting the company’s interests and representing its insureds
- Complete rotations in Claims Legal, Corporate Legal, and Staff Legal
- Conduct legal analysis and research on policy language, coverage issues, and litigated issues
- Assist coverage lawyers with coverage disputes, litigation, technical coverage issues, and legal counsel and training
- Provide legal support and practical advice across corporate legal areas
- Draft and negotiate corporate contracts
- Conduct research and analysis and assist with implementing applicable laws and regulations
- Represent insureds in low-complexity litigation matters
- Prepare cases, pleadings, discovery, hearings, and trials
- Collaborate with claims adjusters, develop case strategies, escalate issues, and assist litigation lawyers
Requirements
What you’ll need- A Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) or a Juris Doctor (J.D.) Degree
- Has been approved for the Lawyer Licensing Process through the Law Society of Ontario; OR meets the prerequisite requirements and is approved prior to the start date with Zurich Canada
- Application must include a cover letter, resume, and law school transcript(s)
