About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Complete field inspections and related responsibilities, including reading maps and aerial photos and measuring fields and storage bins
- Discuss crop-loss findings with farmers on complex, non-routine, problematic, and controversial claims
- Convey complex regulations and interpretations to claimants, agents, and industry personnel
- Perform fact-finding regarding crop damage, record information, and transmit loss information to determine potential indemnities
- Gather relevant facts, utilize applicable law, and establish basic principles of negligence
- Complete claim reviews and audits on lower-level adjusters as assigned
- Maintain working knowledge of regulatory and company policies and procedures to ensure legal compliance
- Contribute to team projects and related results as needed
- Service agricultural communities and protect farmers and ranchers through crop insurance
Requirements
What you’ll need- High School Diploma or Equivalent and 6 or more months of experience in the agricultural area for Crop Claims Field Adjuster I
- High School Diploma or Equivalent and 4 or years of experience in the agricultural or the crop insurance industry for Crop Claims Specialist
- Crop Adjuster Proficiency Program Certification (CAPP) must be obtained within 180 days of hire date
- Reliable personal transportation
- Valid Driver’s License
- Ability to travel within the assigned territory; Crop Claims Specialist may also travel outside the assigned area to assist with workloads, participate on CAT teams, or provide remote assistance
- Ability to walk in agricultural fields up to 3 miles
- Ability to climb agricultural storage bins up to 50 feet
- Ability to lift 25 lbs. to 50 lbs.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying temperatures/weather conditions
- Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
- Strong organization and prioritization skills
- Experience as a Crop Claims Field Adjuster preferred
- Intermediate Microsoft Office skills preferred
