About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Complete field inspections and related activities, including reading maps and aerial photos and measuring fields and storage bins
  • Discuss crop-loss findings with farmers on complex, non-routine, problematic, and controversial claims
  • Convey complex regulations and interpretations to claimants, agents, and industry personnel
  • Perform fact-finding regarding crop damage and transmit loss information to determine potential indemnities
  • Gather relevant facts, apply applicable law, and establish basic principles of negligence
  • Complete claim reviews and audits on lower-level adjusters as assigned
  • Maintain knowledge of regulatory and company policies and procedures to ensure legal compliance
  • Contribute to team projects and related results
  • For the Specialist role, assist with workloads, participate on CAT teams, and provide remote assistance for Crop Claims Care Center calls and CCP Claims

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent and 6 or more months of experience in the agricultural area (Crop Claims Field Adjuster I)
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent and 4 or more years of experience in the agricultural or crop insurance industry (Crop Claims Specialist)
  • Crop Adjuster Proficiency Program Certification (CAPP) must be obtained within 180 days of hire
  • Reliable personal transportation
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Travel within the assigned territory; additional travel may be required for the Specialist role
  • Ability to walk in agricultural fields up to 3 miles
  • Ability to climb agricultural storage bins up to 50 feet
  • Ability to lift 25 to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying temperatures and weather conditions
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Strong organization and prioritization skills
  • Experience as a Crop Claims Field Adjuster preferred
  • Intermediate Microsoft Office skills preferred
  • Must live and service within a 50-mile radius of Hamilton, White, Wayne, Saline, Williamson, Jackson, Johnson, Harden, Pope, Union, and Gallatin counties in Illinois
  • Employment sponsorship is not offered
