About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Complete field inspections, including reading maps and aerial photos and measuring fields and storage bins
- Discuss crop-loss findings with farmers on complex, non-routine, problematic, and controversial claims
- Convey complex regulations and interpretations to claimants, agents, and industry people
- Perform fact finding regarding crop damage
- Record and transmit loss information to accurately determine potential indemnities
- Gather relevant facts, utilize applicable law, and establish basic principles of negligence
- Complete claim reviews and audits on lower-level adjusters as assigned
- Maintain working knowledge of regulatory and company policies and procedures to ensure legal compliance
- Contribute to team projects and related results
- Service agricultural counties within a 50-mile radius of Fresno, Tulare, Kern, and Madera, California
- Travel approximately 50% to cover the territory
- For the Crop Claims Specialist, travel outside the assigned area, participate on CAT teams, and/or provide remote assistance for CROP Claims Care Center calls and CCP claims
Requirements
What you’ll need- For RCIS Crop Claims Field Adjuster I: High School Diploma or Equivalent and 6 or more months of experience in the agricultural area
- For Crop Claims Specialist: High School Diploma or Equivalent and 4 or years of experience in the agricultural or crop insurance industry
- Crop Adjuster Proficiency Program Certification (CAPP) must be obtained within 180 days of hire
- Reliable/personal transportation and travel within the assigned territory
- Valid Driver’s License
- Ability to walk in agricultural fields up to 3 miles
- Ability to climb agricultural storage bins up to 50 feet
- Ability to lift 25 lbs. to 50 lbs.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying temperatures/weather conditions
- Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills preferred
- Strong organization and prioritization skills preferred
- Experience as a Crop Claims Field Adjuster preferred
- Intermediate Microsoft Office skills preferred
- No employment sponsorship offered
