  • Handle process lifecycles, background tasks, networking, automatic updates, and stability on unmanaged hardware
  • Port the peer to Android using NDK/JNI, including foreground services, battery optimizations, and mobile network integration
  • Integrate the Chromium network stack, Cronet, C++, and browserless HTTP clients into tested Rust libraries
  • Gather hardware and OS reconnaissance, including TCP/TLS/HTTP fingerprints
  • Share fingerprint and hardware insights with Browser and Antiban teams
  • Build per-device metrics for uptime, drop-off rates, bandwidth, and success rates
  • Add peer-level capabilities such as captcha solving and browser rendering
  • Securely isolate the peer from untrusted pages and hosts
  • Participate in the on-call rotation and run post-mortems
  • Improve software and deployments based on operational lessons
  • Author RFDs, review architectural designs, and establish cross-platform Rust engineering standards
  • Collaborate with the Team Lead, Principal Engineer, Browser Stack squad, and Antiban squad

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 5+ years of production Rust experience
  • Proven track record of shipping and maintaining software end-to-end
  • Shipped Rust code on at least two platforms across Windows, macOS, or Android, with at least one mobile platform
  • Understanding of OS permissions, processes, and background behavior
  • Skilled in interfacing Rust with C/C++ libraries and native OS APIs, including JNI/NDK, Win32, and POSIX
  • Experience managing lifetimes, memory ownership, and cross-language threading
  • Thorough understanding of TCP, TLS, and HTTP protocols down to the packet level
  • Ability to dissect network traffic and analyze client fingerprint differences
  • Experience instrumenting software and measuring fleet health without direct device access
  • On-call operational excellence
  • Security-conscious defensive design for code running on third-party devices
  • Excellent written communication skills
  • Familiarity with Rust (tokio, tonic), C++ (Cronet), and Kotlin/Java on Android
  • Experience with gRPC and Protobuf over mTLS, Chromium network stack, browserless HTTP clients, and custom Chromium builds
  • Experience with GCP, Kubernetes, Valkey, BigQuery, blue/green deployments, Prometheus, Grafana, Loki, and OpenTelemetry
