About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provide application engineering, technical support, and solution development for fall protection products and systems across India
- Support customers, distributors, sales teams, consultants, contractors, and other stakeholders in selecting, applying, inspecting, and using fall protection solutions
- Translate customer requirements and workplace hazards into technically appropriate fall protection solutions aligned with 3M requirements, engineering principles, and applicable standards
- Understand applications, work-at-height hazards, site conditions, and operational requirements
- Recommend 3M fall protection products and systems based on applications and identified risks
- Provide technical guidance on harnesses, lanyards, self-retracting lifelines, anchorage systems, horizontal and vertical lifelines, rescue systems, confined-space access/egress, and related solutions
- Review site layouts, drawings, specifications, and work-at-height requirements
- Support technical calculations and application assessments
- Participate in site surveys and provide implementation recommendations
- Provide technical support to customers, EPC contractors, consultants, system integrators, and end users
- Conduct customer visits, site assessments, technical discussions, product demonstrations, and application trials
- Support projects from opportunity identification through technical solution development and implementation
- Troubleshoot product and application issues and coordinate escalations with relevant 3M teams
- Support PSD sales in identifying and developing technical opportunities, customer meetings, tenders, specifications, and project discussions
- Develop and deliver technical training, demonstrations, application guides, presentations, and competency programs
- Maintain knowledge of Indian and international fall protection standards and regulations
- Conduct site surveys, prepare reports, and maintain records of technical engagements and application opportunities
- Collaborate with PSD Sales, Marketing, Product Management, Application Engineering, Regulatory, and global technical teams
- Support new product introductions, application development, and sharing of solutions across India and Asia
- Contribute to EHS policies, hazard identification, and continuous improvement
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Safety Engineering, or a related technical discipline
- Typically 8–10 years of relevant experience in fall protection, work-at-height safety, industrial safety, engineering solutions, construction, infrastructure, or a related technical field
- Strong understanding of fall protection principles and work-at-height applications
- Experience with customer-facing technical roles, application engineering, engineering services, or technical sales support
- Ability to understand technical drawings, site layouts, specifications, and engineering requirements
- Willingness to travel extensively across India for customer visits, site surveys, training, and project support
- Experience with fall protection systems, anchorage systems, lifelines, rescue systems, or access/egress systems
- Experience in construction, infrastructure, oil & gas, power, utilities, manufacturing, or mining
- Familiarity with relevant Indian and international fall protection standards
- Experience with engineered fall protection solutions and site assessments
- Knowledge of AutoCAD or similar drawing/engineering tools would be an advantage
- Experience working with multinational organizations, engineering consultants, EPC contractors, or large industrial customers would be beneficial
- Understanding of fall protection principles, hierarchy of controls, anchorages, rescue planning, and work-at-height applications
- Customer and stakeholder management, problem solving, technical communication, site assessment and risk understanding, training and presentation skills, project and opportunity management, cross-functional collaboration, commercial awareness, and safety mindset
