About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Run continuous discovery with Utility Owner customers through calls, site visits, and workflow shadowing
  • Build first-hand understanding of customer pain points, workflows, and business drivers
  • Map the market landscape and identify major pain points and budget opportunities
  • Synthesize customer feedback into a scalable product roadmap and productization strategy
  • Define the Utility Owners segment strategy, target sub-segments, positioning, and market-entry wedge
  • Partner with the CEO, Chief Growth Officer, and engineering leadership
  • Use AI-native tools such as Claude and Cursor to prototype demonstrable Alpha software rapidly
  • Validate product concepts with real customers and hand proven concepts to Engineering for production
  • Translate validated concepts into production-ready requirements and stay involved through engineering handoff
  • Define and track commercial success metrics including adoption, revenue, and land-and-expand
  • Partner with Growth on bringing the product to market
  • Develop fluency in civil infrastructure, damage prevention, and the regulatory landscape

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Relevant educational background (BA/BS/BE/MBA) in business, computer science, architecture, or industrial engineering
  • 7+ years of experience spanning reputable management consulting and/or product management at a B2B SaaS, data, or AI-native company
  • Ability to independently design, prototype, and ship working software using modern AI tools
  • Understanding of AI-generated software sufficient to reason about and correct it
  • Comfort operating in a 0-to-1, forward-deployed capacity
  • Ability to decompose complex business problems and build solutions hands-on
  • Sharp, credible communication skills translating between customer needs and engineering
  • Comfort working with the CEO, Chief Growth Officer, engineering leadership, and customers
  • Flexibility to travel on-site to customers and to the Austin, TX offices as needed
  • Prior engineering experience or a technical degree is a strong plus, not required
  • Utility infrastructure, civil/damage-prevention, or regulatory experience is preferred but not required
  • Consultancy experience combined with hands-on product experience is preferred but not required
  • Side project, startup, or open-source work substantially built with AI tools is preferred but not required
