About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Shape the ideal customer profile, pricing, packaging, and program design for sponsor-backed companies with the CEO and founder
  • Work with AEA to use its network for warm introductions and refine 829's positioning to private equity sponsors
  • Build relationships with partners, operating partners, value-creation leads, and portfolio-operations teams
  • Represent 829 at private equity and industry events
  • Own a monthly goal for qualified opportunities from private equity firms and portfolio companies
  • Generate introductions to portfolio-company CEOs, CMOs, and CFOs through sponsor relationships
  • Conduct outbound prospecting via email, phone, LinkedIn, and events
  • Understand sponsor and portfolio-company needs and connect them to 829's offering
  • Qualify opportunities and maintain visibility into performance by partner and channel
  • Partner with sales leaders on discovery, scoping, sponsor engagement, and deal progression through signature
  • Bring sponsor context and value-creation plans into each deal
  • Work with delivery leaders to turn programs into reference stories
  • Create proof points and partner-facing materials from sponsor-backed client wins
  • Enable partners to refer opportunities independently
  • Maintain partner cadence, run joint pipeline reviews, and monitor platform and add-on acquisitions
  • Document the channel playbook and help shape future hires
  • Use AI tooling for portfolio research, personalized outreach, repeatable workflows, and pre-call preparation

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Personally carried and hit a monthly or quarterly pipeline or sourcing number
  • 8+ years of experience in business development, partnerships, or sales
  • Ideally experience selling marketing or professional services through the private equity channel
  • Real relationships with operating partners, value-creation leads, and portfolio-operations teams in private equity
  • Ability to generate pipeline from scratch through cold outbound and network activation
  • Builder's mindset and comfort shaping a new channel amid ambiguity
  • Understanding of the marketing industry, ideally from selling marketing services
  • Ability to communicate, negotiate, and present confidently to CEOs, CFOs, and operating partners
  • Ability to collaborate closely with sales and remain coachable
  • Prior experience at a PE-services or value-creation advisory firm is a plus
  • Boston or New York strongly preferred; remote candidates considered, with proximity to PE hubs advantageous
  • Proficiency with Google Workspace, HubSpot Sales Hub, ZoomInfo, and modern AI tooling
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States
  • Must not require current or future sponsorship for an employment visa to work legally in the United States
