About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Handle first- and third-party casualty claims involving injury, including represented and unrepresented claimants
  • Own claims when injury exposure is identified
  • Handle claims in multiple states, including licensed and statutory states
  • Handle low-complexity homeowner liability property damage claims
  • Support Small Claims matters through conclusion
  • Support catastrophe-related claims and simple homeowner losses
  • Manage, investigate, negotiate, settle, and resolve injury claims valued below $50,000
  • Manage claim assignments through designated queues in the claim system
  • Conduct self-managed triage
  • Make coverage determinations and advise customers on coverage issues
  • Interview witnesses and obtain and analyze evidence, including medical records
  • Determine whether an independent medical examination is warranted
  • Represent insureds or the company at settlement conferences when necessary
  • Appear at arbitrations and trials when necessary
  • Provide deposition testimony when necessary
  • Evaluate subrogation potential and initiate subrogation notices
  • Make settlement decisions within authority and develop negotiating strategies
  • Present cases to committee when seeking authority above settlement limits, then independently negotiate and settle claims
  • Communicate with customers and parties in writing, by telephone, and electronically in a virtual environment

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High school diploma or a combination of education and 2+ directly relevant work experience
  • 2 years of related professional experience
  • 2 years of claims experience
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently
  • Strong decision-making ability
  • Strong customer service orientation
  • Basic math and computer skills
  • Ability to type 30 wpm
  • Proficient oral and written communication skills and good command of the English language
  • Ability to function in a team environment
  • Ability to successfully complete training courses pertinent to job duties
  • Developing understanding of statutory and regulatory requirements
  • Ability to travel on rare occasions
  • Ability to work extended hours and/or weekends
  • 1+ years casualty experience preferred
  • No visa sponsorship; must have authorization to work indefinitely in the US
  • OK license required
