About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Supervise complex first- and third-party auto and commercial injury claims, including litigated claims
- Supervise claims across multiple states virtually
- Evaluate coverage questions and provide approval decisions
- Provide guidance and settlement authority on cases exceeding representatives’ authority
- Potentially manage the First Notice of Loss injury queue
- Act as claims liaison in partner states and maintain relationships with partner clubs, commercial customers, and brokers
- Oversee claim investigation, evaluation, negotiation, and conclusion
- Direct, supervise, and evaluate claims workflow
- Monitor staff goals, targets, file quality, customer service reports, surveys, and feedback
- Provide technical expertise and review files with adjusters
- Manage phone queues and participate in committee review processes
- Communicate and enforce policies, procedures, safety rules, and Department of Insurance regulations
- Oversee daily business-unit operations and multiple shifts
- Recommend operational improvements and ensure adequate staffing
- Collaborate with other departments on projects
- Produce Quality Assurance Reports
- Assist with recruiting, interviewing, and hiring decisions
- Share responsibility for budget planning and business-unit results
- Manage catastrophe response across multiple states
- Act as subject matter expert for claim issues and legislative and DMV regulatory reviews
- Conduct trend and competitive analysis to identify process improvements
- Analyze training needs, coordinate employee training, and promote staff development
- Coach, mentor, evaluate, and conduct performance appraisals
- Recommend salary actions, promotions, and terminations
- Administer counseling, disciplinary procedures, and corrective actions with management and Human Resources
- Create a collaborative, inclusive, and psychologically safe environment
- Translate enterprise strategy and priorities for team members
- Travel as needed for enterprise, divisional, team, and other in-person meetings
Requirements
What you’ll need- 3+ years of casualty or bodily injury supervisory experience within a claims environment
- Technical experience handling claims relevant to supervised adjuster roles
- High School (HS)/GED or 3-year customer service experience in a virtual environment leveraging internet, phone, and chat features industry
- Must hold an Adjuster license for all applicable states or obtain license(s) within 90 days of filling position as a condition of employment
- Experience handling Commercial Auto, Rideshare, and/or TNC claims is advantageous
- Bachelor's degree in a related area or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Associate in Claims (AIC), CPCU and/or ICAR designations are advantageous
- Remote anywhere in the United States except Hawaii and Alaska
- Must have authorization to work indefinitely in the US
