About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Act as an interface between Procurement, Engineering, and R&D teams
- Drive procurement knowledge, including market, supplier, and external intelligence, into the development process
- Optimize engineering cost, quality, and technology
- Translate engineering requests into procurement parameters for execution
- Manage ordering and on-time delivery of prototype parts directly with suppliers for each project
- Align prototype procurement with critical project development and testing plans
- Manage procurement Gate Model activities
- Arrange project procurement gate meetings as required
- Create and maintain project procurement documents
- Estimate initial cost and quality and achieve product cost and quality targets
- Optimize cost and quality throughout development projects
- Collaborate with R&D and Engineering project teams, local Procurement teams, and division Procurement Category Managers
Requirements
What you’ll need- At least 5 years of experience in procurement within New Product Development (NPD) programs
- Experience working as a Procurement Engineer or Project Buyer with mechanical, electromechanical, or electronics components and systems
- Skilled in procurement methodologies such as should-cost modeling, value chain analysis, and supplier development
- Knowledge of the electrical equipment and energy distribution market
- Highly adept in SAP, SAP Ariba, or equivalent ERP/procurement platforms
- Comfortable working with PLM and project management tools
- Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering), or proven experience in Supply Chain Management or Business Administration with a strong technical background
- Italian and English language proficiency, written and spoken
- Cross-functional collaboration and stakeholder management skills
- Problem-solving and continuous improvement skills
