About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Contribute to ABB technology, software, product, and system development
- Identify and implement innovative solutions to relevant engineering problems
- Perform technology and engineering assignments in R&D Breaker, Switch and Accessories projects
- Recognize problems and provide input to solutions
- Follow scientific discussions and contribute independently in the relevant competence area
- Understand business drivers and customer requirements and contribute to results
- Contribute creative ideas to R&D projects and propose follow-up projects and activities
- Coordinate project or sub-project activities and ensure alignment with time, cost, and quality targets
- Apply R&D processes and tools
- Monitor state-of-the-art technology, ABB products, and technologies
- Identify technical drivers and customer value in R&D projects
- Improve operations and customer satisfaction according to incoming requests
- Provide consulting services to business operations and customers
- Share technical/scientific knowledge and support colleagues
- Prepare technical reports and maintain documentation
- Participate in relevant engineering networks
- Contribute to IP discussions and develop project clearance reports
- Identify risks in R&D projects
Requirements
What you’ll need- BS in mechanical/electrical engineering with min. 5 years’ experience or MSc in mechanical/electrical engineering with minimum 2 years’ experience in R&D
- Good active learning ability and self-drive
- Understanding of low-voltage electrical components and standards and their application in product design
- Familiarity with commonly used engineering materials, including plastic and metallic materials, and related manufacturing/processing
- Proficiency in CAD, e.g. AutoCAD and Creo, and MS Office
- Knowledge of structural and thermal simulations and their application in design
- Ability to read and express technical solutions in English
- Good communication and teamwork skills
- Foreign enterprise R&D or multinational teamwork experience preferred
- Agile work-way experience preferred
