About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Manage Account Managers with direct accounts to achieve financial goals under the overall NAM Pulp & Paper sales plan
  • Directly support sales of ABB Process Automation Pulp & Paper products, systems, and services within the defined geography
  • Manage, coach, and lead the regional sales team to achieve annual order-volume and margin goals
  • Assist in opportunity pursuit strategies and prepare proposals for large projects
  • Lead negotiations for major customer agreements
  • Collaborate with Pulp & Paper Business Drivers, Product Managers, and Market Segment Management on strategic accounts, opportunities, sales initiatives, and campaigns
  • Track and forecast sales opportunities and conduct monthly forecast reviews
  • Provide competitive, product, feature, and market-opportunity feedback to marketing
  • Own specific customer issues and drive them to resolution
  • Provide monthly reports covering regional performance, activities, forecasts, opportunity tracking, improvement actions, and business issues
  • Ensure Account Managers follow established sales processes and complete Salesforce opportunity entries and visit reports
  • Manage the opportunity pipeline and continuously support and direct Account Managers
  • Develop and maintain senior-management contacts with major regional accounts
  • Establish, build, and maintain long-term customer relationships to increase market penetration and mitigate risk

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's degree (Engineering degree preferred) with 6+ years of relevant experience selling a technical product or solution in a complex business environment; OR Associate degree with 8+ years of relevant experience selling a technical product or solution in a complex business environment; OR High school diploma and 10+ years of relevant experience selling a technical product or solution in a complex business environment
  • Strong team player with excellent organizational, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Willingness and ability to travel as required to manage the region and attend meetings (estimated up to 50%)
  • Understanding of the Market Segment Pulp & Paper portfolio of Systems, Products and Services, including DCS, QCS, Drives, Lab Measurement, and related Service offerings
  • General understanding of the Pulp & Paper industry and production processes
  • Strong interpersonal skills and comfort talking with customers, other salespeople, and related business contacts
  • Salesforce experience preferred
  • Strong customer presentation skills
