About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance, testing, and troubleshooting of proprietary ABB hardware and software
  • Assist with projects, upgrades, new installations, and advanced services
  • Maintain quality control hardware and software, including sensors, frame and sensor package, computer systems, and HMI/control software
  • Answer customer questions about the ABB system and resolve customer service-related technical issues on-site
  • Communicate with plant operators, plant management, third-party vendors, and ABB personnel
  • Participate in on-call rotation for 24-hour emergency support service requests
  • Accurately document preventive and corrective maintenance work
  • Play an active role in upgrades, new installations, and new customer functionality projects
  • Coordinate work with other groups to meet commitments
  • Complete assigned training and follow all HSE policies and procedures
  • Work independently or as part of a small site team

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Associate degree in a related field and 5+ years of electrical/electronics, instrumentation or process control related work/military experience required; or HS diploma/GED and 7+ years of related work/military experience required
  • Mechanical/Electrical aptitude, including a basic understanding of electrical theory and electrical safety
  • Ability to use electrical test equipment such as voltmeters or multi-meters
  • Ability to read electrical drawings and use them to troubleshoot electrical systems
  • Ability to diagnose malfunctioning electrical systems up to 240 VAC/870 VDC
  • Ability to perform preventive maintenance using electrical test equipment
  • Ability to identify voltage systems above 240 VAC/870 VDC
  • Comfortable using basic hand tools
  • Basic understanding of the paper making process and process control is a plus
  • Exposure to DCS programming and troubleshooting is beneficial
  • Travel up to 15% may be required for training and assisting other sites
