About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provide expert technical support for ABB's full Instrumentation Portfolio, including automation software and hardware, system startup, troubleshooting, recovery, maintenance, and resolution of complex customer issues
- Deliver remote and on-site field service support, including preventive and corrective maintenance, troubleshooting customer installations, and supporting product deployment and operational readiness
- Own customer incidents and escalations through resolution while communicating status, root causes, corrective actions, and solutions within service-level commitments
- Build customer relationships as a trusted technical advisor, proactively identifying risks, supporting production continuity, and delivering training and application guidance
- Collaborate with R&D, Manufacturing, Product Management, Logistics, Calibration, Sales, and Services to resolve issues, improve products, and implement sustainable solutions
- Document technical knowledge, develop self-service support content, share best practices, and advocate for product enhancements based on customer feedback and field experience
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Chemical, Mechatronics, CS, etc.) or related field is required
- Experience troubleshooting hardware, software, systems, platforms, or Instrumentation equipment
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose root causes and implement effective solutions
- Excellent customer-facing communication and relationship management skills
- Proficient or Native English speaker
- Ability to collaborate across cross-functional teams
- Willingness to travel up to 15% domestically
- Commitment to delivering high-quality support and meeting customer service expectations
- Candidates must already have work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US
- Preferred: Experience supporting ABB's Instrumentation products
- Preferred: Knowledge of Instrumentation products and distributed I/O systems
- Preferred: Experience in field service, preventive maintenance, or managed services
- Preferred: Familiarity with Knowledge-Centered Service (KCS) methodologies
- Preferred: Experience delivering technical training or customer coaching
