About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Sell the entire line of Abbott Diabetes Care products to regional government accounts
  • Develop new business with healthcare providers in defined regional accounts
  • Manage regional and local market access
  • Grow existing customer-base sales
  • Determine customer needs and develop account-specific strategies
  • Create customer commitment to change
  • Implement conversion, training, and startup activities after closing
  • Sell to Federal Government Medical Centers, including Department of Defense medical treatment facilities, VA Medical Centers, Indian Health Tribes, public health agencies, and payors
  • Drive access, grow market share, and exceed quarterly sales goals
  • Manage territory and ensure efficient implementations and training
  • Expand into primary care
  • Manage accounts and provide customer care
  • Manage assigned budget and maximize return on investment
  • Implement and maintain quality-system effectiveness
  • Assess the business impact of contracting opportunities on profitability, sales, and margin
  • Develop regional government-account business
  • Conduct weekly travel and appointments with target facilities and healthcare/pharmacy administration
  • Perform territory strategic planning and semi-annual business reviews
  • Prepare accurate forecasts and customer business plans
  • Drive new product sales and distribution
  • Collaborate with Marketing, Medical Science Liaisons, Network Field Specialists, Inside Sales, Customer Service, Contract Marketing, and Account Sales & Service

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Four-year degree in Business, Communications, Health Sciences or equivalent experience
  • High degree of computer literacy
  • Functional ability to use Microsoft Office
  • 3.0 to 5.0 years of proven successful sales experience at Abbott Laboratories or equivalent
  • Generally 4+ years of successful sales experience for candidates from outside Abbott Laboratories
  • Previous sales experience with VA, DoD, or Indian Health
  • Military background or family in Military Service before self, mindset
  • Managed Care experience
  • Analytical ability
