About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Deliver a full range of Occupational Health duties, including case management, medicals, health surveillance and wellbeing services
  • Work in AHCC Medical Centres in Croydon and Enfield four out of five days per week, with some home working as required
  • Work at medical centres and customer sites to provide support, advice and guidance to managers and employees
  • Advise on sickness absence, workplace environment, risk assessment, stress management and return to work
  • Conduct health surveillance and fitness-to-work assessments for safety-critical posts
  • Advise managers and HR regarding employees unable to undertake normal duties
  • Support managers and supervisors with health-related risk assessments
  • Maintain current knowledge of legislation and best practice in Occupational Health
  • Support service utilization growth in the area, including occasional evening clinics when client demand requires
  • Own, update and communicate clinical manuals
  • Participate in network learning opportunities and apply clinical improvements
  • Complete performance-related clinical goals and share relevant clinical innovations
  • Build a regional community of practice and support best-practice sharing and problem-solving

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Degree, Diploma or Certificate in Occupational Health and be on Part 3 of NMC Register, or be working towards this with evidence of continual professional development
  • Good written and oral communication skills
  • Qualification in Hand Arm Vibration is desirable
  • Experience collecting samples for drug and alcohol testing using chain of custody protocols is desirable
  • Ability to produce clear and concise reports to managers
  • Ability to carry out medicals and health surveillance including audiometry, spirometry, skin assessment, HAVS and safety critical medicals
  • Ability to conduct case management assessments and produce clear, succinct reports
  • Ability to work effectively with HR, health and safety professionals and occupational health partners
  • Ability to prioritize workload and use experience and initiative to refer complex cases appropriately
  • Ability to travel between sites
  • Competence using computers, including Microsoft and Excel software
  • Ability to identify key health issues and provide solutions in line with good practice
  • Adherence to the NMC Code of Conduct
  • Reflective learning and profile-building consistent with NMC revalidation expectations
  • Excellent communication skills with diplomacy and empathy
  • Ability to work independently within a collaborative environment
  • Excellent organisational skills and ability to manage and support a diverse customer base
  • Full Driving Licence and ability to travel to sites
