About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Serve as the primary champion and strategic lead for the assigned geography
- Set direction for AbbVie's market access objectives
- Provide high-level oversight of regional activities and act as principal liaison for top-tier customers
- Develop and implement local market access strategies and influence maps
- Identify influential customers, emerging channels, and players, and tailor engagement plans to optimize market access for key brands
- Collaborate with and support the Area Access Director in planning and pulling through direct Area customer contracts
- Maintain customer relationships and manage day-to-day engagements
- Proactively identify and resolve customer issues and ensure timely pull-through of solutions
- Keep Area Directors informed of critical developments and escalations
- Coordinate with Centers of Excellence, Area Directors, Area Strategists, FRMs, MOSLs, and Patient Support Services
- Identify regional business-growth opportunities and recommend initiatives to expand access and deepen customer relationships
- Monitor industry trends and competitor activity
- Monitor and report on key performance indicators
- Leverage data analytics, including MABI, to assess contract effectiveness and refine performance and pull-through
- Perform continuous sitting for prolonged periods (more than 2 consecutive hours in an 8-hour day)
- Travel to on-site customer locations within the region and to AbbVie's Chicago Headquarters 3–4 times
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's degree in Business, Life Sciences, or a related field
- 5+ years of sales management experience; District Manager or Regional Manager preferred
- Account management and/or marketing experience in healthcare or a related business
- 2+ years of account management experience within a Group Practice/Payor/Institutional environment strongly preferred
- Proven ability to operate effectively in a large, complex geography and influence diverse stakeholders
- Contract negotiation, stakeholder engagement, and commercial-results experience
- Ability to manage cross-functional teams in a matrixed organization
- Valid driver's license
- Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening test and meet safe driving requirements
- Ability to drive a personal auto or company car or truck, or a powered piece of material handling equipment
- Must be located within the region, ideally near a large airport
- Ability to travel to on-site customer locations within the region
- Ability to travel 3–4 times to AbbVie's Chicago Headquarters
- Preferred: Advanced degree (MBA, MPH, etc.)
- Preferred: In-depth knowledge of regional payer landscapes, healthcare policies, and key customer types (IDNs, VISNs, Employers)
- Preferred: Proficiency in data analytics and experience utilizing tools or platforms to inform strategy and decision-making
