About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Serve as the primary champion and geographic quarterback for the assigned region
  • Set direction for AbbVie’s market access objectives and oversee regional activities
  • Act as principal liaison for top-tier customers
  • Develop and implement local market access strategies and influence maps
  • Identify influential access customers including PBMs, employers, payers, IDNs, health systems, aggregators, and VMFs
  • Tailor engagement plans to optimize market access for key brands
  • Collaborate with the Area Access Director on direct Area customer contracts and contract pull-through
  • Maintain customer relationships and manage day-to-day engagements
  • Identify and resolve customer issues and communicate critical developments or escalations
  • Coordinate with internal stakeholders including Centers of Excellence, Area Directors, Area Strategists, FRMs, MOSLs, and Patient Support Services
  • Identify regional growth opportunities and initiatives to expand access and deepen customer relationships
  • Monitor industry trends and competitor activity
  • Monitor and report key performance indicators
  • Leverage data analytics such as MABI to assess contract effectiveness and refine performance and pull-through

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Life Sciences, or a related field
  • 5+ years of sales management experience; District Manager or Regional Manager preferred
  • Account management and/or marketing experience in healthcare or a related business
  • 2+ years of account management experience within a Group Practice, Payor, or Institutional environment strongly preferred
  • Proven ability to operate effectively in a large, complex geography and influence diverse stakeholders
  • Proven capability in contract negotiation, stakeholder engagement, and driving commercial results
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and coordination skills for managing cross-functional teams in a matrixed organization
  • Valid driver's license
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening test and meet safe driving requirements
  • Ability to drive a personal auto, company car or truck, or powered material handling equipment
  • Must be located within the region, ideally near a large airport
  • Ability to travel to on-site customer locations within the region and to AbbVie's Chicago headquarters 3–4 times
  • Advanced degree such as MBA or MPH preferred
  • In-depth knowledge of regional payer landscapes, healthcare policies, and key customer types preferred
  • Proficiency in data analytics and strategy decision-making tools preferred
