About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Act as an alternative in-office resource addressing HCP questions about patient access
  • Call directly on HCP offices within the assigned geography
  • Provide expertise on coverage and common access and reimbursement challenges affecting AbbVie products
  • Educate HCPs on patient support programs, access and reimbursement tools, and services
  • Educate on product-specific acquisition and access options, including specialty pharmacy networks and specialty distribution
  • Educate on resources available to address access issues
  • Provide local expertise on national and regional payer policies, coding changes, and claims submission processes
  • Liaise with AbbVie’s Access and Reimbursement support center to update HCPs on prescription status and program eligibility
  • Report payer trends for approved products to Patient Services and MHC account management teams
  • Establish and maintain relationships with appropriate providers within the territory
  • Remain current on managed care, reimbursement, and policy activities

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree in health, sciences, pharmacy, or business-related field preferred, or relevant and equivalent industry experience required
  • 3+ years of experience in the specific therapeutic area
  • Experience in Managed Health Care, Payer Account Management, and/or Access and Reimbursement
  • Excellent territory and account management skills
  • Extensive experience educating others on payer processes, coverage requirements, and access-related situations for specialty medicines
  • Strong leadership track record within current role
  • Strong understanding of coding and billing requirements at national and regional levels across all settings of care
  • Comprehensive understanding of Medicare Parts A, B, C, and D and associated reimbursement dynamics
  • Strong understanding of drug acquisition and dispensing, including specialty pharmacies, specialty distributors, and white-bagging
  • Understanding of rules, regulations, and risks associated with reimbursement support services
  • Understanding of access and reimbursement support service centers and compliant interaction practices
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening test and meet safe driving requirements
  • Must satisfy applicable HCIR credentialing requirements and be in good standing or eligible to obtain them
  • May require background checks, drug screens, immunization/vaccination proof, fingerprinting, and specific state or city licenses
