About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Engage national oncology healthcare access decision makers through credible, non-promotional, outcomes-focused scientific exchange
  • Identify key national oncology healthcare decision makers and serve as the primary medical liaison between AbbVie and healthcare decision makers
  • Build relationships to understand customer needs and facilitate generation of real-world evidence consistent with medical planning
  • Advance field scientific strategies and serve as a role model to field medical peers
  • Serve as medical lead within key account management teams for assigned accounts
  • Lead oncology therapeutic-area and healthcare-landscape strategic planning and issue resolution
  • Provide customized communication of scientific, health outcomes, and health policy information
  • Document and communicate observations that contribute to Scientific Intelligence
  • Identify emerging scientific, health economic, and health policy trends and incorporate learnings into strategy and objectives
  • Serve as primary interface and initial contact for large-scale real-world evidence opportunities with national healthcare decision makers
  • Anticipate and address population-level scientific, outcomes research, and health policy needs
  • Facilitate scientific exchange between AbbVie medical leadership, Medical Affairs and Health Impact, therapeutic-area medical directors, HEOR, and senior priority-account leaders
  • Maintain and enhance clinical, scientific, and healthcare-landscape expertise
  • Participate in therapeutic advisory activities involving marketed and investigational products across the product lifecycle
  • Train, coach, and mentor MOSLs
  • Provide guidance and strategic direction to MOSLs supporting key access organizations
  • Collaborate with cross-functional partners and the In-Field Team to support aligned national execution
  • Link scientific engagement to measurable shifts in decision-making and quality of product access

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Advanced scientific degree required: Pharm.D., M.D., D.O., Ph.D., or equivalent
  • Extensive experience in Managed Care, healthcare consulting, oncology pathways, pharmaceutical industry, medical affairs, or a related environment
  • Relevant residency or fellowship may be considered in lieu of some work experience
  • Account management experience preferred
  • Advanced scientific and business acumen
  • Sophisticated understanding of the healthcare landscape
  • Excellent leadership, executive presence, and presentation skills
  • Advanced innovative problem-solving, critical thinking, and communication skills
  • Self-motivated and solution oriented
  • Advanced ability to network and collaborate effectively across multiple organizational levels
  • Deep disease-state and standard-of-care expertise
  • Understanding of patient and caregiver experience, access dynamics, and care delivery realities
  • Advanced product knowledge and experience using clinical, outcomes, and real-world data
  • Ability to articulate pipeline and Pre-Approval Information to healthcare decision makers
  • Ability to evaluate clinical and pharmacoeconomic therapeutic landscape positions
  • Understanding of regulatory, policy, and access landscape trends
