About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Join AbbVie Canada's commercial sales team as an Oncology Therapeutic Specialist
- Focus on oncologists treating hematological malignancies
- Develop robust business plans to execute brand strategy and field tactics
- Deliver sales performance, brand KPIs, financial targets, and marketing objectives
- Create pre-call plans and conduct post-call evaluations to improve sales performance
- Handle objections and concerns using a logical, rational approach to close sales calls
- Support key stakeholders' needs, expectations, and challenges to build trusted relationships
- Execute call plans, achieve set metrics, and optimize coverage of key customers
- Build understanding of customer needs, territory landscape, competitors, market segments, accounts, diseases, products, and clinical expertise
- Share market intelligence with the district manager and team members to align strategy and anticipate environmental changes
- Differentiate AbbVie's value proposition with healthcare providers
- Identify, develop, and maintain disease-state experts and speakers/advocates
- Support short- and long-term sales performance while centering patient needs and complying with AbbVie's code of conduct, policies, and applicable laws
- Travel approximately 30% overnight for ongoing territory management
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's degree in Biological Sciences, Pharmacy, Nursing or equivalent
- Minimum of three to five years in a Specialty Sales role with a strong clinical background within the pharmaceutical industry
- Oncology experience in hematology a strong asset
- In-depth scientific and therapeutic knowledge in hematology-oncology and the Canadian Hematological Oncology sector required
- Physician/account-based selling, CHE/educational/training, medical, managed health care or marketing experience preferred
- Hospital network skills are imperative
- Proven track record in sales and solid presentation skills
- Strong ability to proactively identify customer style / behavior and quickly adapt all aspects of selling approach
- In-depth scientific, hematology product and competitive knowledge
- Strong business acumen and proficient use of business tools; strategic and critical thinking capabilities
- Ability to operate effectively in a matrix environment
- Ability to offer innovative ideas and solutions and anticipate and respond to changes or challenges
- Collaborative partnership skills with district colleagues and team
- Documented success in leadership and support roles of increased responsibility
- English language proficiency (oral and written); French an asset
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, Word, etc.)
- Must be at ease with technology and various tools/systems
- Ability to work evenings/weekends from time to time, including overnight travel
- Valid driver's license and passport
- Ability to think strategically and develop high-quality territory and account plans
- Sound business judgment and executive leadership mindset
- Ability to predict contingent outcomes from customer and competitive perspectives
