About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Execute AbbVie brand strategy and tactics in the field
  • Deliver sales performance, brand KPIs, financial targets, and marketing objectives
  • Create pre-call plans and conduct post-call evaluations
  • Handle objections and gain calls to action to close sales calls
  • Serve customer needs and build trusted customer relationships
  • Develop and execute call plans to meet call metrics and optimize customer coverage and sales opportunities
  • Build knowledge of customer needs, territory market landscape, competitors, market segments, accounts, disease, products, clinical information, and sales expertise
  • Share market intelligence with in-field, brand, and sales management teams
  • Differentiate AbbVie’s value proposition with healthcare providers
  • Identify, develop, and maintain disease-state experts and speakers/advocates
  • Manage the assigned territory and targeted accounts across Los Angeles, Bakersfield, Santa Barbara, and Honolulu
  • Travel approximately 25% of the time

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree in health, sciences, pharmacy, or a business-related field preferred, or relevant equivalent industry experience
  • At least five years of experience required in lieu of a bachelor’s degree, including three or more years preferred within the pharmaceutical, health, or science industry
  • High school diploma/GED required
  • In-depth scientific, therapeutic, product, and competitive knowledge
  • Strong business acumen and proficient use of business tools
  • Strategic and critical thinking capabilities
  • Ability to adapt selling approaches to customer styles and behaviors
  • Ability to develop sales strategies and innovative business solutions
  • Ability to operate effectively in a matrix environment
  • Leadership and peer coaching experience
  • Documented success in leadership and support roles of increased responsibility
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening test and meet safe driving requirements
  • Ability to travel adequately to cover the territory and attend overnight training events and sales meetings
  • Proven sales performance within respective therapeutic areas preferred
  • Commercial pharmaceutical industry experience preferred
  • English language proficiency verbally and in writing
  • Must satisfy applicable HCIR credentialing requirements and be in good standing or eligible to obtain them
