About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Execute AbbVie brand strategy and tactics in the field
  • Deliver sales performance, brand KPIs, financial targets, and marketing objectives
  • Manage the assigned territory and targeted accounts
  • Build strong customer relationships and solve customer needs to maximize sales performance
  • Create pre-call plans using SMART objectives and conduct post-call evaluations
  • Handle objections, misunderstandings, and concerns and gain calls to action to close sales calls
  • Serve customer needs and expectations and build trusted customer relationships
  • Develop and execute call plans to achieve call metrics and optimize customer coverage and frequency
  • Build knowledge of customer needs, territory market landscape, competitors, market segments, accounts, disease, products, clinical information, and sales practices
  • Share market intelligence with in-field, brand, and sales management teams
  • Differentiate AbbVie’s value proposition with healthcare providers
  • Identify, develop, and maintain disease-state experts and speakers/advocates
  • Collaborate with specialty physicians, pharmacists, nurses, in-field team members, sales management, marketing, training, customer excellence, and brand-plan stakeholders
  • Operate within AbbVie’s business code of conduct, policies, and applicable laws and regulations

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree in health, sciences, pharmacy or business-related field preferred, or relevant and equivalent industry experience required
  • At least five years of relevant and equivalent industry experience in lieu of a bachelor’s degree, including three or more years preferred within the pharmaceutical/health/science industry
  • High school diploma/GED required when using industry experience in lieu of a bachelor’s degree
  • Proven track record of success in selling
  • Solid presentation skills
  • Ability to identify customer style/behavior and adapt selling approach
  • Ability to develop innovative ideas and solutions
  • Ability to influence others and serve as a credible peer resource
  • Collaborative partnership skills
  • Documented leadership and support success at district, regional, and/or organizational levels
  • Understanding of findings and ability to develop sales strategies
  • Commercial pharmaceutical industry experience preferred, including physician/account-based selling, training, managed health care, or marketing
  • English language proficiency verbally and in writing
  • Must satisfy applicable HCIR credentialing requirements and be in good standing and/or eligible to obtain credentials
  • Demonstrated in-depth scientific, therapeutic, product, and competitive knowledge
  • Strong business acumen and proficient use of business tools
  • Strategic and critical thinking capabilities
  • Ability to operate effectively in a matrix environment
  • Ability to drive a personal auto, company car/truck, or powered material-handling equipment
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening test and meet safe driving requirements
  • Travel 25% of the time
