About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Execute AbbVie brand strategy and tactics in the field
- Deliver sales performance, brand KPIs, financial targets, and marketing objectives
- Manage assigned territory and targeted accounts
- Build strong customer relationships and solve customer needs
- Create pre-call plans using SMART objectives and conduct post-call evaluations
- Handle objections, concerns, and misunderstandings and gain calls to action to close sales calls
- Serve customer needs and build trusted customer relationships
- Develop and execute call plans to achieve call metrics and optimize coverage and frequency
- Build knowledge of customer needs, territory landscape, competitors, market segments, accounts, disease, products, clinical topics, and sales
- Share market intelligence with in-field, brand, and sales management teams
- Differentiate AbbVie’s value proposition with healthcare providers
- Identify, develop, and maintain disease-state experts and speakers/advocates
- Collaborate with specialty physicians, pharmacists, nurses, in-field team members, sales management, marketing, training, customer excellence, and brand-plan stakeholders
- Travel approximately 25% of the time
- Work within AbbVie’s business code of conduct, policies, and applicable laws and regulations
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree in health, sciences, pharmacy, or a business-related field preferred, or relevant and equivalent industry experience required
- At least five (5) years of relevant and equivalent industry experience in lieu of a bachelor’s degree, including three (3) or more years within the pharmaceutical/health/science industry preferred
- High school diploma/GED required when experience is used in lieu of a bachelor’s degree
- Proven track record of success in selling
- Solid presentation skills
- Ability to adapt selling approach to customer style and behavior
- Ability to develop innovative ideas and solutions
- Leadership and support experience at district, region, and/or organizational levels
- Pharmaceutical commercial industry experience preferred, including physician/account-based selling, training, managed health care, or marketing
- English language proficiency verbally and in writing
- Must satisfy applicable HCIR credentialing requirements and be in good standing and/or eligible to obtain credentials
- In-depth scientific, therapeutic, product, and competitive knowledge
- Strong business acumen and proficient use of business tools
- Strategic and critical thinking capabilities
- Ability to operate effectively in a matrix environment
- Valid driver’s license
- Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening test and meet safe driving requirements
- Ability to drive a personal auto, company car or truck, or powered material-handling equipment
