About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Execute brand strategy and tactics in the field
  • Deliver sales performance, brand KPIs, financial targets, and marketing objectives
  • Manage the assigned territory and targeted accounts
  • Create pre-call plans using SMART objectives and conduct post-call evaluations
  • Handle objections, concerns, and misunderstandings and secure calls to action to close sales calls
  • Serve customer needs and build trusted customer relationships
  • Develop and execute call plans to achieve metrics and optimize customer coverage and frequency
  • Build knowledge of customer needs, territory landscape, competitors, market segments, accounts, diseases, products, clinical information, and sales practices
  • Share market intelligence with in-field teams, brand teams, and sales management
  • Differentiate AbbVie’s value proposition with healthcare providers
  • Identify, develop, and maintain disease-state experts and speakers/advocates
  • Collaborate with specialty physicians, pharmacists, nurses, sales management, marketing, training, customer excellence, and brand-plan stakeholders
  • Travel approximately 25% of the time

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree in health, sciences, pharmacy, or business-related field preferred, or relevant equivalent industry experience required
  • At least five years of relevant and equivalent industry experience in lieu of a bachelor’s degree, including three or more years preferred within the pharmaceutical, health, or science industry
  • High school diploma/GED required when using experience in lieu of a bachelor’s degree
  • Proven track record of success in selling
  • Solid presentation skills
  • Commercial pharmaceutical industry experience preferred, including physician/account-based selling, training, managed health care, or marketing
  • English language proficiency verbally and in writing
  • Must satisfy applicable HCIR credentialing requirements and be in good standing and/or eligible to obtain them
  • Demonstrated in-depth scientific, therapeutic, product, and competitive knowledge
  • Strong business acumen and proficiency with business tools
  • Strategic and critical thinking capabilities
  • Ability to operate effectively in a matrix environment
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening test and meet safe driving requirements
  • Ability to drive a personal auto, company car or truck, or powered material-handling equipment
