Key responsibilities & impact
  • Execute AbbVie brand strategy and tactics in the field
  • Manage assigned territory and targeted accounts to maximize short- and long-term sales performance
  • Build strong customer relationships and solve customer needs
  • Deliver sales performance, brand KPIs, financial targets, and marketing objectives
  • Create pre-call plans using SMART objectives and conduct post-call evaluations
  • Handle objections, concerns, and misunderstandings to achieve calls to action and close sales calls
  • Serve customer needs and expectations to build trusted relationships and win-win agreements
  • Develop and execute call plans optimizing coverage and frequency for key customers
  • Build knowledge of customer needs, territory landscape, competitors, market segments, accounts, disease, products, clinical information, and sales expertise
  • Share market intelligence with field, brand, and sales management teams
  • Differentiate AbbVie’s value proposition with healthcare providers
  • Identify, develop, and maintain disease-state experts and speakers/advocates
  • Collaborate with physicians, pharmacists, nurses, field teams, sales management, marketing, training, customer excellence, and brand-plan stakeholders
  • Travel approximately 25% of the time

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree in health, sciences, pharmacy, or business-related field preferred, or relevant equivalent industry experience required
  • Relevant equivalent industry experience in lieu of a bachelor’s degree: at least five years of experience, including three or more years within the pharmaceutical, health, or science industry preferred
  • High school diploma/GED required when using industry experience in lieu of a bachelor’s degree
  • Proven track record of success in selling
  • Solid presentation skills
  • Ability to adapt selling approach to customer style and behavior
  • Commercial pharmaceutical industry experience preferred, including physician/account-based selling, training, managed health care, or marketing
  • English language proficiency verbally and in writing
  • Must satisfy applicable HCIR credentialing requirements and be in good standing and/or eligible to obtain credentials
  • Demonstrated in-depth scientific, therapeutic, product, and competitive knowledge
  • Strong business acumen and proficiency with business tools
  • Strategic and critical thinking capabilities
  • Ability to operate effectively in a matrix environment
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Ability to drive a personal auto, company car/truck, or powered material-handling equipment
  • Ability to pass pre-employment drug screening and meet safe-driving requirements
