About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Execute brand strategy and tactics in the field
  • Deliver sales performance, brand KPIs, financial targets, and marketing objectives
  • Manage the assigned territory and targeted accounts
  • Build strong customer relationships and solve customer needs
  • Create pre-call plans using SMART objectives and conduct post-call evaluations
  • Handle objections, misunderstandings, and concerns and gain calls to action to close sales calls
  • Serve customer needs and expectations to build trusted relationships and achieve win-win agreements
  • Develop and execute call plans to optimize customer coverage and frequency
  • Build understanding of customer needs, territory market landscape, competitors, market segments, accounts, disease, products, clinical information, and sales practices
  • Share market intelligence with in-field teams, brand teams, and the sales manager
  • Differentiate AbbVie’s value proposition with health providers
  • Identify, develop, and maintain disease-state experts, speakers, and advocates
  • Collaborate with district colleagues and matrix teams
  • Engage specialty physicians, pharmacists, nurses, sales management, marketing, training, customer excellence, and brand-plan stakeholders

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree in health, sciences, pharmacy, or business-related field preferred, or relevant equivalent industry experience
  • At least five years of experience, with three or more years within the pharmaceutical/health/science industry preferred, in lieu of a bachelor’s degree
  • High school diploma/GED required
  • Proven track record of success in selling
  • Solid presentation skills
  • Ability to adapt selling approach to customer style and behavior
  • Commercial pharmaceutical industry experience preferred
  • English language proficiency verbally and in writing
  • Must satisfy applicable health care industry representative credentialing requirements
  • Must be in good standing and/or eligible to obtain required credentials
  • Demonstrated in-depth scientific, therapeutic, product, and competitive knowledge
  • Strong business acumen and proficiency with business tools
  • Strategic and critical thinking capabilities
  • Ability to operate effectively in a matrix environment
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening test
  • Must meet safe driving requirements
  • Ability to drive a personal auto, company car or truck, or powered material-handling equipment
  • Travel up to 15% of the time
