About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Execute AbbVie brand strategy and tactics in the field
  • Manage assigned territory and targeted accounts
  • Build strong customer relationships and solve customer needs to maximize sales performance
  • Deliver sales performance, brand KPIs, financial targets, and marketing objectives
  • Create pre-call plans using SMART objectives and conduct post-call evaluations
  • Handle objections and gain calls to action to close sales calls
  • Serve customer needs and expectations to build trusted relationships and achieve win-win agreements
  • Develop and execute call plans that optimize customer coverage and frequency
  • Build knowledge of customer needs, territory market landscape, competitors, market segments, accounts, disease, products, clinical information, and sales expertise
  • Share market intelligence with in-field, brand, and sales management teams
  • Differentiate AbbVie’s value proposition with assigned healthcare providers
  • Identify, develop, and maintain disease-state experts, speakers, and advocates
  • Operate within AbbVie’s business code of conduct, policies, and applicable laws and regulations
  • Cover the Chattanooga, Cleveland, Dalton, Canton, and Rome territory

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree in health, sciences, pharmacy, or business-related field preferred, or relevant and equivalent industry experience required
  • Relevant and equivalent industry experience in lieu of a bachelor’s degree: at least five years of experience, including three or more years within the pharmaceutical/health/science industry preferred
  • High school diploma/GED required when using equivalent industry experience in lieu of a bachelor’s degree
  • Proven track record of success in selling and solid presentation skills
  • In-depth scientific, therapeutic, product, and competitive knowledge
  • Strong business acumen and proficient use of business tools
  • Strategic and critical thinking capabilities
  • Ability to operate effectively in a matrix environment
  • Documented success in leadership and support roles of increased responsibility
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening test and meet safe driving requirements
  • Ability to travel adequately to cover the territory, including overnight scheduled training events and sales meetings
  • English language proficiency verbally and in writing
  • Must satisfy applicable HCIR credentialing requirements and be in good standing and/or eligible to obtain credentials
  • Ability to adapt selling approaches to customer styles and behaviors
  • Preferred pharmaceutical commercial industry experience, including physician/account-based selling, training, managed health care, or marketing
  • Preferred successful sales performance within respective therapeutic areas
