About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Execute brand strategy and tactics in the field
- Deliver sales performance, brand KPIs, financial targets, and marketing objectives
- Manage the assigned territory and targeted accounts
- Create pre-call plans using SMART objectives and conduct post-call evaluations
- Handle objections, concerns, and misunderstandings to achieve calls to action and close sales calls
- Build trusted customer relationships and reach win-win agreements
- Develop and execute call plans optimizing customer coverage and frequency
- Build knowledge of customer needs, territory landscape, competitors, market segments, accounts, disease, products, clinical information, and sales expertise
- Share market intelligence with field, brand, and sales management teams
- Differentiate AbbVie’s value proposition with healthcare providers
- Identify, develop, and maintain disease-state experts, speakers, and advocates
- Travel approximately 10% of the time and attend scheduled training events and sales meetings
- Operate within AbbVie’s business code of conduct, policies, and applicable laws and regulations
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree in health, sciences, pharmacy, or a business-related field preferred, or relevant and equivalent industry experience required
- In lieu of a bachelor’s degree: at least five years of experience, including three or more years within the pharmaceutical, health, or science industry preferred, and a high school diploma/GED required
- Proficiency in English verbally and in writing for non-English-speaking countries
- Proven track record of success in selling
- Solid presentation skills
- In-depth scientific, therapeutic, product, and competitive knowledge
- Strong business acumen and proficient use of business tools
- Strategic and critical thinking capabilities
- Ability to operate effectively in a matrix environment
- Ability to adapt selling approaches to customer styles and behaviors
- Valid driver’s license
- Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening test and meet safe driving requirements
- Ability to travel adequately to cover the territory, including overnight training events and sales meetings
- Must satisfy applicable HCIR credentialing requirements and be in good standing or eligible to obtain credentials
- Ability to drive a personal auto, company car or truck, or powered material-handling equipment
