About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Execute AbbVie brand strategy and tactics in the field
- Manage assigned territory and targeted accounts across Utica, Watertown, Binghamton, Syracuse, and Rochester-West
- Deliver sales performance, brand KPIs, financial targets, and marketing objectives
- Create pre-call plans using SMART objectives and conduct post-call evaluations
- Handle objections and gain calls to action to close sales calls
- Serve customer needs and build trusted customer relationships
- Develop and execute call plans to optimize customer coverage, frequency, access, and sales opportunities
- Build knowledge of customer needs, territory market landscape, competitors, market segments, accounts, disease, products, clinical topics, and sales practices
- Share market intelligence with in-field, brand, and sales management teams
- Differentiate AbbVie’s value proposition with healthcare providers
- Identify, develop, and maintain disease-state experts and speakers/advocates
- Operate within AbbVie’s business code of conduct, policies, and applicable laws and regulations
- Travel approximately 50% of the time
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree in health, sciences, pharmacy, or business-related field preferred, or relevant equivalent industry experience required
- At least five years of experience with three or more years within the pharmaceutical/health/science industry in lieu of a bachelor’s degree, with a high school diploma/GED required
- Proven track record of success in selling
- Solid presentation skills
- In-depth scientific, therapeutic, product, and competitive knowledge
- Strong business acumen and proficient use of business tools
- Strategic and critical thinking capabilities
- Ability to operate effectively in a matrix environment
- Documented leadership and support experience at district, region, and/or organizational levels
- Valid driver’s license
- Ability to pass pre-employment drug screening and meet safe driving requirements
- Ability to travel adequately to cover the territory, including overnight training events and sales meetings
- English language proficiency verbally and in writing
- Ability to satisfy applicable HCIR credentialing requirements, including possible background checks, drug screens, immunization/vaccination proof, fingerprinting, and specific licenses
