About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Execute brand strategy and tactics in the field
  • Manage assigned territory and targeted accounts
  • Build strong customer relationships and solve customer needs to maximize short- and long-term sales performance
  • Deliver sales performance, brand KPIs, financial targets, and marketing objectives
  • Create pre-call plans using SMART objectives and execute post-call evaluations
  • Handle objections, concerns, and misunderstandings and gain calls to action to close sales calls
  • Serve customer needs and expectations to build trusted relationships and achieve win-win agreements
  • Develop and execute call plans to achieve call metrics and optimize coverage and frequency for key customers
  • Build understanding of customer needs, territory landscape, competitors, market segments, accounts, disease, products, clinical information, and sales expertise
  • Share market intelligence with field, brand, and sales teams and sales manager
  • Differentiate AbbVie’s value proposition with assigned health providers
  • Identify, develop, and maintain disease-state experts and speakers/advocates
  • Travel approximately 25% of the time

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree in health, sciences, pharmacy, or business-related field preferred, or relevant equivalent industry experience required
  • In lieu of a bachelor’s degree: at least five (5) years of experience, including three (3) or more years within the pharmaceutical/health/science industry preferred, and a high school diploma/GED required
  • Proven track record of success in selling and solid presentation skills
  • Scientific, therapeutic, product, and competitive knowledge
  • Strong business acumen and proficient use of business tools
  • Strategic and critical thinking capabilities
  • Ability to operate effectively in a matrix environment
  • English language proficiency verbally and in writing
  • Meet health care industry representative (HCIR) credentialing requirements, which may include background checks, drug screens, proof of immunization/vaccination, fingerprinting, and specific state or city licenses
  • Be in good standing and/or eligible to obtain required HCIR credentials
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening test and meet safe driving requirements
  • Ability to travel adequately to cover the territory, including overnight attendance at scheduled training events and sales meetings
  • Ability to drive a personal auto, company car or truck, or powered material-handling equipment
