About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Execute brand strategy and tactics in the field
- Deliver sales performance, brand KPIs, financial targets, and marketing objectives
- Manage the assigned territory and targeted accounts
- Build strong customer relationships and solve customer needs
- Create pre-call plan objectives and conduct post-call evaluations
- Handle objections, misunderstandings, and concerns and gain calls to action to close sales calls
- Serve customer needs and expectations and build trusted customer relationships
- Develop and execute call plans that optimize coverage and frequency for key customers
- Build knowledge of customer needs, territory market landscape, competitors, market segments, accounts, disease, products, clinical information, and sales practices
- Share market intelligence with in-field, brand, and sales management teams
- Differentiate AbbVie’s value proposition with assigned healthcare providers
- Identify, develop, and maintain disease-state experts and speakers/advocates
- Operate within AbbVie’s business code of conduct, policies, and applicable laws and regulations
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree in health, sciences, pharmacy, or a business-related field preferred, or relevant and equivalent industry experience required
- Relevant and equivalent industry experience in lieu of a bachelor’s degree: at least 5 years of experience, including 3 or more years within the pharmaceutical/health/science industry preferred, plus a high school diploma/GED required
- Proven track record of leadership success
- Solid presentation skills
- Strong business acumen
- Proficient use of business tools
- Strategic and critical thinking capabilities
- Ability to identify customer style/behavior and adapt selling approach
- Ability to operate effectively in a matrix environment
- Commercial pharmaceutical industry experience preferred, including physician/account-based selling, training, managed health care, or marketing
- In-depth scientific, therapeutic, product, and competitive knowledge preferred
- English language proficiency preferred for non-English-speaking countries
- Must satisfy applicable HCIR credentialing requirements and be in good standing and/or eligible to obtain credentials
- Valid driver’s license
- Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening test and meet safe driving requirements
- Ability to drive a personal auto, company car or truck, or powered material-handling equipment
