About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Execute brand strategy and tactics in the field
  • Deliver sales performance, brand KPIs, financial targets, and marketing objectives
  • Manage the assigned territory and targeted accounts
  • Build strong customer relationships and solve customer needs
  • Create pre-call plan objectives and conduct post-call evaluations
  • Handle objections, concerns, and misunderstandings and close sales calls with appropriate calls to action
  • Develop and execute call plans to optimize customer coverage and sales opportunities
  • Build knowledge of customer needs, territory landscape, competitors, market segments, accounts, disease, products, clinical information, and sales practices
  • Share market intelligence with field, brand, and sales management teams
  • Differentiate AbbVie's value proposition with healthcare providers
  • Identify, develop, and maintain disease-state experts and speakers/advocates
  • Operate within AbbVie's business code of conduct, policies, and applicable laws and regulations
  • Work in a matrix environment and collaborate with district colleagues and matrix teams

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's degree in health, sciences, pharmacy, or business-related field preferred, or relevant and equivalent industry experience required
  • Relevant and equivalent industry experience in lieu of a bachelor's degree: at least five years of experience, with three or more years within the pharmaceutical/health/science industry preferred
  • High school diploma/GED required when qualifying through the experience alternative
  • In-depth scientific, therapeutic, product, and competitive knowledge
  • Strong business acumen and proficient use of business tools
  • Strategic and critical thinking capabilities
  • Leadership and support success at district, region, and/or organizational levels
  • Commercial pharmaceutical industry experience preferred
  • English language proficiency verbally and in writing
  • Must satisfy applicable HCIR credentialing requirements
  • Must be in good standing and/or eligible to obtain HCIR credentials
  • Valid driver's license
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening test
  • Must meet safe driving requirements
