Key responsibilities & impact
  • Execute AbbVie’s brand strategy and tactics in the field
  • Deliver sales performance, brand KPIs, financial targets, and marketing objectives
  • Manage the assigned territory and targeted accounts
  • Build strong customer relationships and solve customer needs
  • Create pre-call plan objectives and conduct post-call evaluations
  • Handle objections and gain calls to action to close sales calls
  • Serve customer needs and develop trusted customer relationships
  • Develop and execute call plans to optimize coverage, frequency, access, and sales opportunities
  • Build knowledge of customer needs, territory market landscape, competitors, market segments, accounts, disease, products, clinical information, and sales practices
  • Share market intelligence with in-field, brand, and sales management teams
  • Differentiate AbbVie’s value proposition with assigned healthcare providers
  • Identify, develop, and maintain disease-state experts and speakers/advocates
  • Operate within AbbVie’s business code of conduct, policies, and applicable laws and regulations

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree in health, sciences, pharmacy, or a business-related field preferred, or relevant equivalent industry experience required
  • Relevant equivalent industry experience in lieu of a bachelor’s degree: at least 5 years of experience, including 3 or more years within the pharmaceutical, health, or science industry preferred, plus a high school diploma/GED required
  • Proven track record of leadership success
  • Solid presentation skills
  • Strong business acumen
  • Proficient use of business tools
  • Strategic and critical thinking capabilities
  • Ability to identify customer styles/behaviors and adapt the selling approach
  • Ability to operate effectively in a matrix environment
  • Preferred success in sales performance within the relevant therapeutic area
  • Preferred commercial pharmaceutical industry experience, such as physician/account-based selling, training, managed health care, or marketing
  • Preferred in-depth scientific, therapeutic, product, and competitive knowledge
  • English proficiency preferred for non-English-speaking countries
  • Must satisfy applicable HCIR credentialing requirements and be in good standing and/or eligible to obtain them
  • Background checks, drug screens, immunization/vaccination proof, and fingerprinting may be required
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening test and meet safe driving requirements
