About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Execute brand strategy and tactics in the field
- Deliver sales performance, brand KPIs, financial targets, and marketing objectives
- Manage the assigned territory and targeted accounts
- Build strong customer relationships and solve customer needs
- Create pre-call plan objectives and conduct post-call evaluations
- Handle objections, concerns, and misunderstandings and gain calls to action to close sales calls
- Serve customer needs and expectations and build trusted relationships
- Develop and execute call plans to optimize coverage and frequency with key customers
- Build knowledge of customer needs, territory landscape, competitors, market segments, accounts, disease, products, clinical topics, and sales
- Share market intelligence with field, brand, and sales management teams
- Differentiate AbbVie’s value proposition with assigned health providers
- Identify, develop, and maintain disease-state experts and speakers/advocates
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree in health, sciences, pharmacy, or business-related field preferred, or relevant equivalent industry experience
- Relevant equivalent industry experience in lieu of a bachelor’s degree: at least five years of experience, including three or more years within the pharmaceutical/health/science industry preferred, plus a high school diploma/GED required
- Proven track record of leadership success
- Solid presentation skills
- Strong business acumen
- Proficient use of business tools
- Strategic and critical thinking capabilities
- Ability to identify customer style/behavior and adapt selling approach
- Ability to operate effectively in a matrix environment
- Pharmaceutical commercial industry experience preferred, such as physician/account-based selling, training, managed health care, or marketing
- In-depth scientific, therapeutic, product, and competitive knowledge preferred
- English language proficiency preferred for non-English-speaking countries
- Must satisfy applicable health care industry representative credentialing requirements and be in good standing and/or eligible to obtain them
- Ability to pass background checks, drug screens, and provide immunization/vaccination proof or fingerprinting if required
- Valid driver’s license
- Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening test and meet safe driving requirements
- Ability to drive a personal auto, company car/truck, or powered material-handling equipment
