About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Execute brand strategy and tactics in the field
- Manage assigned territory and targeted accounts
- Build customer relationships and solve customer needs to maximize sales performance
- Deliver sales performance, brand KPIs, financial targets, and marketing objectives
- Create pre-call plans and conduct post-call evaluations
- Handle objections and secure calls to action during sales calls
- Serve customer needs and build trusted customer relationships
- Develop and execute call plans to optimize customer coverage, frequency, access, and sales opportunities
- Build knowledge of customer needs, territory market landscape, competitors, market segments, accounts, disease states, products, clinical topics, and sales
- Share market intelligence with in-field, brand, and sales management teams
- Differentiate AbbVie’s value proposition with healthcare providers
- Identify, develop, and maintain disease-state experts and speakers/advocates
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree in health, sciences, pharmacy, or a business-related field preferred, or relevant and equivalent industry experience required
- In lieu of a bachelor’s degree: at least five years of experience, including three or more years within the pharmaceutical, health, or science industry preferred, and a high school diploma/GED required
- In-depth scientific, therapeutic, product, and competitive knowledge
- Strong business acumen and proficient use of business tools
- Strategic and critical thinking capabilities
- Ability to identify customer styles/behaviors and adapt selling approaches
- Ability to develop sales strategies and innovative solutions
- Ability to operate effectively in a matrix environment
- Leadership and peer coaching experience
- Documented success in leadership and support roles of increased responsibility
- Commercial pharmaceutical industry experience preferred, including physician/account-based selling, training, managed health care, or marketing
- English language proficiency verbally and in writing
- Must satisfy applicable HCIR credentialing requirements and be in good standing or eligible to obtain credentials
- Valid driver’s license
- Ability to pass pre-employment drug screening and meet safe driving requirements
- Ability to drive a personal or company vehicle or powered material-handling equipment
