About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Execute brand strategy and tactics in the field
- Deliver sales performance, brand KPIs, financial targets, and marketing objectives
- Manage the assigned territory and targeted accounts
- Build strong customer relationships and solve customer needs
- Create pre-call plans and conduct post-call evaluations
- Handle objections, concerns, and misunderstandings and close sales calls with logical calls to action
- Serve customer needs and build trusted customer relationships
- Develop and execute call plans to optimize coverage and frequency with key customers
- Build knowledge of customer needs, territory landscape, competitors, market segments, accounts, disease, products, clinical information, and sales expertise
- Share market intelligence with the in-field team, brand team, and sales manager
- Differentiate AbbVie’s value proposition with health providers
- Identify, develop, and maintain disease-state experts and speakers/advocates
- Operate within AbbVie’s business code of conduct, policies, and applicable laws and regulations
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree in health, sciences, pharmacy, or a business-related field preferred, or relevant and equivalent industry experience required
- In lieu of a bachelor’s degree: at least five (5) years of experience, including three (3) or more years within the pharmaceutical/health/science industry preferred, and a high school diploma/GED required
- In-depth scientific, therapeutic, product, and competitive knowledge
- Strong business acumen and proficient use of business tools
- Strategic and critical thinking capabilities
- Proven track record of success in selling and solid presentation skills
- Ability to operate effectively in a matrix environment
- Innovative problem-solving abilities
- Documented success in leadership and support roles of increased responsibility
- Commercial pharmaceutical industry experience such as physician/account-based selling, training, managed health care, or marketing preferred
- English language proficiency verbally and in writing
- Must satisfy applicable health care industry representative (HCIR) credentialing requirements and be in good standing and/or eligible to obtain them
- Valid driver’s license
- Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening test and meet safe driving requirements
- Ability to drive a personal auto or company vehicle or powered material-handling equipment
