About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Execute brand strategy and tactics in the field
  • Manage assigned territory and targeted accounts
  • Build strong customer relationships and solve customer needs to maximize sales performance
  • Deliver sales performance, brand KPIs, financial targets and marketing objectives
  • Create pre-call plans using SMART objectives and conduct post-call evaluations
  • Handle objections, concerns and misunderstandings and gain calls to action to close sales calls
  • Serve customer needs and expectations to build trusted relationships and achieve win-win agreements
  • Develop and execute call plans to meet call metrics and optimize customer coverage and frequency
  • Build knowledge of customer needs, territory landscape, competitors, market segments, accounts, disease, products, clinical information and sales expertise
  • Share market intelligence with in-field, brand and sales management teams
  • Differentiate AbbVie’s value proposition with healthcare providers
  • Identify, develop and maintain disease-state experts and speakers/advocates
  • Collaborate with district colleagues and matrix teams

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree in health, sciences, pharmacy or business-related field preferred, or relevant and equivalent industry experience required
  • Relevant and equivalent industry experience required in lieu of a bachelor’s degree: at least five (5) years of experience, with three (3) or more years within the pharmaceutical/health/science industry preferred
  • High school diploma/GED required when using experience in lieu of a bachelor’s degree
  • Proven track record of success in selling
  • Solid presentation skills
  • Commercial pharmaceutical industry experience preferred, including physician/account-based selling, training, managed health care or marketing
  • English language proficiency verbally and in writing
  • Must satisfy applicable HCIR credentialing requirements and be in good standing and/or eligible to obtain these credentials
  • Demonstrates in-depth scientific, therapeutic, product and competitive knowledge
  • Strong business acumen and proficient use of business tools
  • Strategic and critical thinking capabilities
  • Ability to operate effectively in a matrix environment
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Ability to drive a personal auto or company car/truck or powered material-handling equipment
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening test and meet safe driving requirements
