About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Serve as the primary legal partner for products and features from early design through launch and post-launch review
- Partner with product, engineering, policy, partner experience, marketing, IT, finance, corporate development, and commercial teams
- Review product launches, feature changes, user-facing disclosures, and marketing claims
- Develop and scale legal processes, frameworks, and templates with appropriate guardrails
- Provide actionable guidance on regulatory, privacy, compliance, and evolving AI/ML matters
- Support the broader Product, Privacy, and Regulatory Legal portfolio as priorities and risks change
- Coordinate with external counsel on specialist issues and risk analysis
- Monitor emerging laws and regulations affecting products and data practices
- Advise internal stakeholders on regulatory implications
- Serve as a trusted advisor to product and engineering teams and embed legal and compliance frameworks into the product lifecycle
Requirements
What you’ll need- 5+ years of legal experience, including 3+ years in product counseling
- Prior in-house experience at a technology company is required
- Working knowledge of privacy and data protection, consumer protection, and intellectual property issues as applied to technology products
- Ability to identify issues across a broad range of legal areas and investigate unfamiliar regulatory questions
- Ability to communicate complex regulatory and legal concepts as clear, practical guidance
- Ability to manage a high volume of projects, tight timelines, and competing priorities
- Ability to work independently and exercise business judgment
- Ability to work cross-functionally with technical, design, and commercial teams
- Creativity in solving novel legal matters and crafting processes and language for a rapidly moving enterprise
- Expertise in intellectual property, AI, or software and technology transactions is a bonus
- Familiarity with large language models and responsible AI principles is a bonus
- Prior experience at a growth-stage, AI-native, or healthcare technology company is a bonus
- Strong understanding of federal and state healthcare laws, including HIPAA and state health privacy laws is a bonus
- Experience with FDA, FTC, fraud, waste, and abuse laws, health data interoperability, information blocking rules, and related state laws is a bonus
- Must work in San Francisco or New York City and be willing to work in the office Monday, Wednesday, and Friday
- United States work authorization is addressed in the application form
