About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Handle global and local custody operations
Process client trade and corporate action instructions on the securities system
Ensure settlement of trades and corporate actions by the due date
Maintain and record transactions accurately and on time
Ensure clients receive error-free custody reporting
Reconcile client entitlements for cash dividends, bonus issues and rights issues
Collect income entitlements and cash dividends promptly
Maintain records of corporate events
Perform daily securities and cash reconciliation
Manage the securities system dashboard and ensure daily deliverables are met
Liaise with Global Markets for FX rates booking and confirmation for client trades and fund repatriation
Liaise with bank commercial operations for cash processing
File all documents used in the course of work
Respond to clients on custody-related operational matters
Follow up with clients until issues are resolved
Proactively prevent settlement delays or failures
Provide market information to clients as requested under the SLA
Participate in product risk reviews and provide input
Monitor and report operational risk events
Contribute to cost minimisation and identify revenue opportunities
Ensure all activities comply with regulatory requirements, risk frameworks and internal policies

Requirements

What you’ll need

Diploma or B-Commerce degree
Further Education and Training Certificate (FETC) in Business, Commerce and Management Studies (Required)
3 years’ experience in a securities services business
Risk management skills
Operational efficiency
Organisational skills
Stakeholder management skills
Knowledge of financial markets
Ability to work in line with regulatory requirements, Enterprise Wide Risk Management Framework and internal Absa Policies and Policy Standards
