About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Shape and enable strategic learning and development strategies, capability-building plans and governance practices
  • Partner with People Leads, People Partners and Cluster LLT Leads on L&D and talent management components of the People Agenda
  • Provide L&D expertise and insight at senior business meetings
  • Act as consultant and broker between the business, People Partners and L&D services
  • Lead and programme-manage bespoke learning and development interventions aligned with business goals
  • Manage objectives, outcomes, communications, embedding practices, timescales, budgets and ROI expectations
  • Guide L&D Partners in developing business-aligned learning and development plans
  • Build client relationships and identify L&D intervention opportunities
  • Manage budgets and maximise internal learning solutions while optimising external spend
  • Embed the L&D demand model and facilitate or source facilitators for team events
  • Ensure quality learning plans are delivered within agreed time, cost and quality parameters
  • Source subject matter experts to support learning delivery
  • Evaluate learning solutions and apply ROI frameworks for continuous improvement
  • Research external best practices and develop innovative solutions
  • Review and rationalise the supplier base
  • Maintain internal and supplier relationships while adhering to governance frameworks
  • Build an external L&D network and monitor leading practices and market trends
  • Analyse data and modelling to identify trends and insights supporting business outcomes
  • Align innovation with cluster and division needs and create solutions where standard products are insufficient
  • Monitor consistency and harmonisation of policies and solutions
  • Balance team resources and develop a high-performing team through performance development and coaching
  • Determine team development needs and ensure training is budgeted and executed
  • Interview and recruit team members
  • Approve leave requests and create leave plans
  • Initiate disciplinary processes and resolve team grievances when required

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Completed Bachelor’s Degree and Advanced Diploma in Education, Training and Development
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in Learning and Development
  • Advanced effective communication competency
  • Digital familiarity
  • Leadership-level people leadership
  • Leading with influence
  • Ethics and values
  • Open to change
  • Ability to manage L&D budgets, governance, policies, internal controls and ROI expectations
  • Ability to interview and recruit team members and determine compensation levels with Human Resources input
  • Ability to approve leave, manage leave coverage, initiate disciplinary processes and resolve grievances
  • Ability to work with People Partners, Cluster LLT Leads, business leaders, Learning Solutions teams, suppliers and SMEs
