About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Take full responsibility for successful delivery of business and technical solutions supporting Absa Bank Kenya Plc’s strategic and operational objectives
- Manage business-critical, large-to-medium, major workstream, and smaller projects
- Apply Absa Bank Group project practices, standards, and methodologies
- Collaborate with stakeholders to deliver projects on time, within budget, to quality standards, and in compliance with policies
- Support development of business requirements, business cases, and project charters
- Define project scope, plans, deliverables, responsibilities, and resource requirements
- Manage large-scale projects and lead project teams and dedicated resources in-country or across Africa
- Establish project governance structures and monitor initiation, progress, delivery, risks, and controls
- Guide project definition, requirements analysis, business and technical design, and change control
- Coordinate project-team work, allocate tasks, monitor progress, and secure delivery commitment
- Forecast costs, cash flow, timescales, and resource requirements
- Manage project issues, risks, escalations, contingencies, budgets, resources, schedules, and quality
- Prepare project and resource plans, progress reports, forecasts, and updated plans
- Prepare operational staff for implementation and manage operational handover
- Establish service management groups, service-level agreements, audit plans, and quality plans
- Manage the full project lifecycle from business case through handover, completion, and post-project review
- Coordinate stakeholder engagement and communicate governance exceptions, progress, and remediation areas
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, risk frameworks, IT security policies, internal policies, and audit requirements
- Agree resource plans and lead sub-project teams
- Set work scopes and targets, monitor sub-project manager performance, and identify training needs
- Contribute to staff performance assessment and coach sub-project staff
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor`s Degrees and Advanced Diplomas in Business, Commerce and Management Studies (Required)
- PRINCE2 or PMP Certified; candidates without certification are expected to achieve certification within 6 months
- Familiarity with Prince2 methodology, PMI, or another relevant change/project management methodology
- Knowledge of the Change Governance Framework
- Good understanding of value-based management principles
- Experience with appropriate project/programme management software
- Strong skill in producing, monitoring, and delivering project plans
- Innovative problem-solving ability to challenge the status quo and drive beneficial change
- Value-based business perspective and appreciation of Absa strategy and commercial consequences of project/programme management decisions
- Ability to mobilize and manage corporate resources
- Communication and presentation skills
- PowerPoint design and data visualization skills
- Proven project management and change management skills and expertise
- Experience applying project management best practices and disciplines, such as Prince2 or MSP
- Experience managing activity across the whole project lifecycle using current technology, structured methods and a quality process
- Exposure to governance, control, and risk management
- Ability to work effectively across teams at all levels
- Ability to negotiate and influence senior-level stakeholders
