About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provide expert field-based patient education and support throughout the Rett treatment journey
- Serve as a dedicated contact for Rett families’ on-label clinical education questions about disease state and product education
- Engage caregivers, families, healthcare professionals when appropriate, and local communities
- Help patients successfully start and stay on therapy
- Provide disease state, product, and ongoing therapy management education in consumer-friendly language
- Engage patients and caregivers in person, by telephone, and virtually before, during, and after therapy initiation
- Determine individual patient and caregiver needs and provide appropriate education and resources throughout the patient journey
- Support the assigned territory and collaborate with Marketing, Sales, Patient Access, Medical Affairs, Advocacy, and other internal partners
- Communicate educational opportunities with cross-functional partners
- Provide expert insights to internal stakeholders to develop tools, resources, disease-state education, and therapy-management strategies
- Maintain expert knowledge of disease state, product, and Acadia Customer Support Programs, including Hub-related and Patient Assistance Programs and ambassador speaker programs
- Moderate, lead, and present caregiver speaker programs as needed
- Attend community events within the assigned territory
- Provide reactive in-service education to physician offices about the Family Support Educator role and patient-support resources
- Foster dialogue between caregivers and healthcare providers
- Identify and execute leadership opportunities within the Family Support Educator team and cross-functional partnerships
- Provide mentorship and development opportunities for new Family Support Educators and interested cross-functional colleagues
- Identify training and development opportunities related to Patient Support Services and the broader organization
- Ensure all actions comply with laws, regulations, policies, and Acadia values
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree, with an emphasis in life sciences preferred; RN, MSN, MBA is a plus
- Family Support Educator: 5+ years of relevant experience in Pharmaceutical Industry, Patient Access, National Accounts, Specialty Pharmacy
- At least 2 years of Patient Support, Education or Leadership experience
- Senior Family Support Educator: 7+ years of relevant experience in Pharmaceutical Industry, Patient Access, National Accounts, Specialty Pharmacy
- Senior level: extensive experience and technical expertise associated with Patient Engagement
- Senior level: at least 4 years of Patient Support, Education or Leadership experience
- Rare Disease experience strongly preferred
- Product Launch, Advocacy, Medicaid and Medicare expertise strongly preferred
- Strong background and understanding of field environment in healthcare industry
- Track record of increased responsibilities
- Strong history of successful cross-functional collaboration
- Demonstrated success in leading without authority
- Experience working with provider offices, patient assistance programs, or similar pharmaceutical support programs strongly preferred
- Exemplary interpersonal skills
- Patient-centric mentality with emotional intelligence and empathy
