About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Process over-the-counter financial services, including deposits, withdrawals, loans, utility payments, money orders, credit card advances, foreign and domestic exchange, and cheque cashing
- Balance ATM, night deposits, and cash drawer transactions daily
- Resolve routine member account and deposit instrument problems
- Safeguard cash and negotiable items and prevent fraudulent transactions
- Meet balancing, outage, high-risk error, and daily work audit requirements
- Respond to member inquiries in person, by phone, and by email
- Use members’ financial situations to position relevant products and services
- Adhere to policies and procedures for risk management, confidentiality, security, and fraud prevention
- Communicate product and service information and secure sales
- Use fact-finding techniques to overcome objections and ask for sales
- Cross-sell credit union products and solicit new members
- Maintain current knowledge of products, services, policies, and legislation
- Collaborate with team members to achieve organizational and departmental objectives
- Participate in meetings, planning, training, and information-sharing initiatives
- Identify lending and wealth referral opportunities
- Retain and expand existing member relationships and pursue new business
- Represent the credit union in the community through professional and personal involvement
Requirements
What you’ll need- Grade 12 diploma or equivalent
- Minimum of 1-year previous experience in customer/member service role
- Additional experience and/or development from the Member Services Representative (MSR) position
- Demonstrated desire to serve others in a friendly and professional manner
- Ability to identify and willingness to act upon sales and service opportunities
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written
- Attention to detail with high degree of accuracy
- Ability to work in fast-paced environment and perform well under pressure
- Ability to prioritize using sound judgment to make timely and effective decisions
- Knowledge of Access Credit Union’s products and services
- Ability to follow standardized policies and procedures
- Basic knowledge of risk management within the financial industry
- Proficient computer skills
