About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead a multi-state Area of Regional Sales Directors and their sales teams
- Own Area sales performance and achieve monthly, quarterly, and annual goals
- Translate national commercial priorities into Area business plans and measurable outcomes
- Partner with the VP, Sales & Sales Enablement and cross-functional leaders on marketplace insights, customer trends, competitive intelligence, and growth opportunities
- Establish performance expectations, accountability, KPIs, and regular business reviews
- Lead Area readiness and execution across pre-launch, launch, and post-launch phases
- Partner with Enablement & Training on onboarding, ongoing training, launch meetings, and sales meetings
- Translate launch strategy into consistent field execution and adapt tactics to local market dynamics
- Attract, hire, develop, and retain Regional Sales Directors and sales professionals
- Coach and mentor RSDs through business reviews, field rides, feedback, and leadership development
- Establish talent pipelines through succession planning and development with HR and Enablement & Training
- Manage performance, conduct reviews, and provide compensation recommendations
- Develop and manage Area budgets and optimize resource allocation
- Partner on territory alignment, customer targeting, performance metrics, and incentive compensation strategies
- Use CRM analytics, business intelligence, and market insights to evaluate performance and inform decisions
- Develop strategies for organized customers including health systems, IDNs, large group practices, and tobacco treatment programs
- Build relationships with key thought leaders in addiction medicine, pulmonology, psychiatry, primary care, and tobacco treatment
- Partner with Market Access, Marketing, and Medical Affairs on customer needs and payer dynamics
- Bring customer insights and market intelligence from the field to the home office
- Reinforce ethical business practices and compliance with Achieve policies, FDA regulations, OIG guidance, the PhRMA Code, and state and federal requirements
- Model integrity, accountability, and professionalism across the field organization
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's degree required; MBA or advanced degree preferred
- 15+ years of pharmaceutical or biotechnology sales and sales leadership experience
- 5+ years of experience directly leading sales managers, with a demonstrated track record of developing and coaching leaders
- Proven success developing and executing Area or multi-region business plans, managing budgets, and delivering against commercial objectives
- Demonstrated experience driving business with organized customers, such as health systems, IDNs, academic medical centers, ACOs, and large group practices
- Strong scientific and medical aptitude, with the ability to communicate complex clinical concepts clearly and effectively
- Strong analytical and business acumen, including experience interpreting CRM data and using Veeva, Excel, or comparable platforms
- Deep understanding of pharmaceutical promotional compliance, including FDA regulations, OIG guidance, and the PhRMA Code
- Proven ability to collaborate across multiple functions, manage competing priorities, and deliver results in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment
- Exceptional communication, presentation, relationship-building, and influencing skills
- Strong attention to detail and proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Valid driver's license and suitable driving record
- Willingness to travel up to 75%
- Significant U.S. product launch experience preferred
- Experience building commercial capabilities and field organizations from the ground up preferred
- Experience in respiratory, primary care, addiction medicine, or smoking cessation preferred
- Experience leading teams engaging primary care and broad healthcare professional audiences preferred
- Understanding of retail, non-retail, specialty pharmacy, and HUB access models preferred
- Exposure to Marketing, Market Access, Sales Training, or Commercial Operations preferred
