About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Administer and maintain LAN and WAN infrastructure across all Acme Tools locations, including switches, routers, wireless access points, and firewalls
  • Assist with network design and implementation, including VLAN segmentation, routing, and quality-of-service policies
  • Manage enterprise wireless, site-to-site VPN, and remote-access VPN connectivity
  • Troubleshoot outages, perform root-cause analysis, and plan firmware upgrades and hardware refreshes
  • Administer, patch, and monitor on-premises and cloud physical and virtual servers
  • Manage Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS/DHCP, and Microsoft 365
  • Maintain virtualization hosts and guest servers
  • Manage backups and disaster recovery, verify backup jobs, and test restores
  • Monitor system performance, capacity, and utilization and support recovery efforts
  • Support end-user workstations and mobile devices, including imaging, deployment, and escalated issues
  • Assist with firewall policy, content filtering, and intrusion detection and prevention
  • Apply endpoint protection and hardening standards
  • Manage identity and access provisioning, permissions, and multi-factor authentication
  • Act as Tier 2 support for the IT Service Team
  • Develop solutions for department technology needs
  • Partner with the IT Infrastructure Manager on vendors and technology evaluation
  • Maintain ISP circuits and facility technology, including broadband failover, access control, video surveillance, phone systems, and cabling
  • Maintain documentation, topology diagrams, IP addressing, cabling layouts, and asset inventory

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Degree in Computer & Network Technology, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent hands-on experience
  • Solid grasp of TCP/IP, subnetting, DNS, and DHCP
  • Experience administering Windows Server, Active Directory, and Microsoft 365
  • Some exposure to Linux server administration
  • Working knowledge of backup and recovery
  • Experience with virtualization such as Nutanix or Hyper-V
  • Strong communication and customer service skills
  • Ability to juggle projects and competing priorities
  • Willingness to participate in an on-call rotation
  • Willingness to travel occasionally to other sites, including overnight stays
  • Prompt and reliable attendance
  • Ability to lift 70+ lbs, work on ladders and in ceiling spaces, stand or walk for up to 10 hours, and perform physical tasks including pushing, pulling, squatting, bending, sitting, crawling, and reaching
  • Employment contingent on drug screen and background check
  • Preferred: Extreme Networks, Fortinet, Cisco Meraki, Cisco CCNA, CompTIA Network+, or CompTIA Security+ certifications
  • Preferred: Microsoft 365 and Entra ID administration expertise
  • Preferred: enterprise backup platform experience
  • Preferred: PowerShell or Python scripting experience
